If some of you guys have some time to kill check out item#180225259954 on ebay it end in march 25, let me know what you think of that.
I have a 89 fzr that i now ride and i'm working on one of those i just like to know what you guys know about them ...........

I would play with one except I am fearful of finding parts. These bikes are tough enough. I was real close to trying a RZ500 powered TZ or TZR until saw prices of the hard to find bits.
There is always free cheese in a mouse trap.

I'd snatch that little RD up but Tamara would whup Mah Ayss....
I've built RD's for the street that made about a hunnert hp.
All the goodies are there on that one. Cept, for that extended swingarm....

No. I actually don't own one.
But I know a lot of guys that do. The motor shares a lot of parts and technology with the Banshee, the Fazer snowmobile, a couple of watercraft, and numberous motorcycles. Parts are out there.
I have two SR500's. People ask where I get parts for it. It's really no problem. Same with the FZR...

He dragracer i was told than the fzr 400 front end would go on the rd,do you know anything about that?

The question is for how long did thay make a 100 horsepower!
I love the old RDs (mine was great until it blew up, and blew up, and blew up) but I'd much prefer an RZ. In fact here is one for sale right now.

I've built RD's that have run on the street making pretty big power that ran complete seasons. Most people that build them fail to do a proper job with the bottom end. Some folks that rode them failed to realize you can't just rev the piss out of them. Many builders fail to recalculate teh ballance factor and er ballance the bottom end and it shakes itself to an early death.
Many others had no idea how totime one.....
The list goes on....
I think I know where that KR came from. I have a friend that passed away about 5 years ago and that bike went to his son. It was in fast the nicest KR I had ever seen.
I had a Gamma that went back and forth from his house to mine....

My first street bike was a '72 RD350 I miss that thing. Although I have a TZR250 which I love to ride the old RD was a different feel.

Dr. Jim you must be one of the uncommon masters of tuning a two-stroke twin. Soon it will be a lost art. I imagine you probably had to earn that knowledge the hard way (by that I mean lots of pistons and cylinders!). I read about Turner (TTS Racing) drag racing his RDs and making that kind of power but I never dynoed mine. I would have been happy with 50 or 60 reliable HP! I actually had some success with my RD (thanks to a skilled friend) but it was still tough to keep it running on the track. My friend raced one as well but he switched to the RZ and I went to four stroke singles after our novice season. I never messed with bottom ends much other than making sure I had a straight crank to start with and fresh bearings. That might have been my downfall! On the street it was like nothing else and I would love to have one in my garage right now.

Can't argue on the fun factor but there's a point where fun and fear are out of balance. That was when the H2 went vertical and the rear wheel was getting real close to leading the way in directions I probably don't want to go anyway.

I agree for stock OEM parts. I can order any stock OEM part for my '94 FZR1000 through the local Yamaha dealer. May not be cheap - but they are available. Aftermarket upgrades and performance parts are little harder to locate these days; and the suppliers that are out there consider themselves to be niche/custom parts suppliers (i.e. not cheap - but available). :cool
