New Member, 1st Question
Hello all. I'm new to this forum but not Yamaha's. I'm an ex WERA Formula RD racer (remember when they still had that class) and have a garage full of RD's and RZ's. Two weeks ago I found a 1987 FZR750RT (#169 of 200) on Craigslist for $1900. The pics looked good so I paypal'd the guy the money without actually seeing the bike. The next day he tells me he started for the first time in a while and it has a gas leak. OK by me as long as it isn't a hole in the tank. I picked up the bike in Cincy and took it straight to the guy that works on my bikes. Ends up that all of the rubber parts connected with the carbs are junk. The tab for replacing it all, including new needles ($50 each) comes to $800. So I got this bike for $2700. The bike is totally stock with a file folder full of receipts etc. I know nothing about this bike. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I haven't even ridden it yet!

What I don't get is that this guy has been trying to sell this bike off and on for 2 years. Why didn't somebody pick it up. He started at $3500. I even found his old ad when I googled "FZR750". According to my mechanic it is in perfect mechanical condition with the exception of the carbs (he says this is common on late 80's to early 90's Yamaha's).

Gidday,
Nice find racer, these are getting to be a rare machine in original condition these days and it's great to see such a good one.
Cheers

Maybe you were just ment to have it, or probably, like a lot of older sports bikes, they appeal to some of us more mature riders these days...What I don't get is that this guy has been trying to sell this bike off and on for 2 years. Why didn't somebody pick it up
Cheers
