Trouble free day at OP & race report

Post by sbutler »

Well it really did happen. Ive got through the whole day without a problem. Didnt even get out the tool box!!

Pratice:: There was no qually at this round[dont know why?]
But anyway I was running 12th in the championship so thats were I started on the grid. The bike was really hauling arse, & all the geomitry changes WORKED! The thing handles really well, hold its line, in a word GREAT. So that was all good. As you can see by my lap times, Im 3 sec a lap faster than the same time last race at OP in October.
The extra HP didnt go unnoticed either.

Race 1
Got away to a good [but safe start] & had a blinder of a race, couldnt put a foot wrong. I was really happy with the bike, but in the back of my mind, wondering when it was gonna break down. Looked up & they were holding my number out & a 10 sec penalty WTF!
Got pipped for a jumped start . Thet put me back to 14th but I finshed 7th. Oh well you gotta take your lumps I suppose?

Uneventfull race, just really have a good go, because the bike felt so good I could really enjoy the race.

Thanks Spook. Im really rapped! Im still buzzing, I cant believe how well the old FZR went.. Everyone was commemting on the straight line speed its got.

Ive just gotta do the acid trick with the tank again, I must not have got all the crap out. Put some new slicks on her & get a heaver spring for the rear & away we go again. 11^& 12 of October for the titles at OP. Two day meeting so Im saving like a banshy to get to that round.

you have to love a meet where you get results, and don't drag the tool box out

small gains and keep moving foward, and buy a cheap push bike to help with the fitness,

well done

Awesome! A trouble-free weekend, and consistently good positions at
the end... that's great, well done

only 2nd time out and already snapping at the heels of the A's & B's...
remind me not to race against you for money :)

Good stuff!

Love the way you went back through the results to see if you could squeeze anymore out...and you did :)

Glad you had a trouble free weekend.

P.S.
I was talking to another 'old' racer up here the other day and he is looking at getting back into it so he came around to see what this 'New Era' stuff is all about. He brought up the Oran Park meet in November and seemed keen so we might get that road trip happening yet :)

Better stick it in the "for sale" section here then, first! Pics? Mileage?

Mike there is a state title round on the 11th 12th of October. That would be the better round to make. If you want to jump on a plane I can pick you up from Newcastle airport. Cheaper than driving..

BTW who is this old racer??
