They must be unduly modest but I can tell you all that Steve Butler and Zoltan Petri had recent race success, Steve got 2nd overall for retro class at St George Wakefield Park meet and Zoltan took out 1st in the new P6 750 class in PCRA at the same track. Well done!!!

Thanks guys. I have refrained from posting because I dont want to jinks myself..
Yeah didnt have a bad day of racing. The only thing that went wrong was in quallifying. I fitted a new rear tyre, but didnt realise it was a new genaration model & used the same pressure I was running on the older model. It was 8 psi to high. So you can imagine what happend everytime I gased it up. it was sidways heaven!!! So that stuffed my qually. So I had to start mid pack & got caught up in all the dramas. Other than that I had a great day of racing. Wasnt super fast but kept a lot of modern bikes behind me, & dicing with the moderns was great.
But they are so fast in a straight line!!!!!!
1 x 1st
3 x 2nd which gave me 91 points.
Only 6 points off the lead.
But we still have 3 rounds to go so Im not getting to excited. But It would be a nice way to hang up the leathers. As retro champion.. ;)

Didnt ride the first round of the PCRA on the Sunday as I got struck down with food poisining. Mate I was crook. Rob had the 750 ready for me to race but I just couldnt do it. It killed me walking away from the ride but I had no choice. If I had have gone out I most likely binned it & that would do no one any good.
But I'll be doing the next round, so Im looking forward to that. Zols got off to a good start, & from all reports is going real well on the FZ750.
So I will have to try & keep up to him.

Nice one Steve, good to see you have a good run. I was damn jealous seeing everyone run in what I used to dream about - our own P6 750 class!! I 'll get my turn sometime....

Steve from Hamilton - Won't make Mac Park but being your home track I'll expect to see you crack the 1.20 barrier!!

Its the best racing, you have to work as a team, & some people find that very hard to do. Its not all about the riders like a sprint race. Everyone has to do the right thing for the team to succeed. Those with an ego need not apply IMO..

Did a 1.09.40 in one race.
The crazy thing is Ive done low 1.08s around there, but I cant seem to do it again. That track changes so much!

Well the Barry Sheene is over for another year. It was big real big this year.
I came away with 4x4th places in P6 F750 so Im pretty happy to do that on a standard 1990 bike. Im recoing the 21 year old shock, & changing the dog bones, to gain a little ground clearance. Orded a race exhaust from the US, which should arrive in a few weeks, & fitting a jet kit for some more HP. That should do for now. I love the old school feel of the bike but the lack of power is a little hard to get use to. You have to ride the crap out of it,which I like, & never loose flow or the later bikes will jump you. Had a chance to meet some of our NZ buddys, they all seem like great guys,..So all in all a great weekend.
So for now its just relax for a few weeks & then get ready for the 4 hour.

thanks Jas, haven't been around reading for a while. Lucky rob cole dnfd a couple, might have been 2nd overall then, but i really enjoyed the racing and was really thrilled to be the first aust p6F750 winner, no matter what the future holds!

I couldn't make it to other races nor the barry sheene due to work needs, which really sucks...

in the middle of building the bike around the 87 frame, just stuffing around with shock lengths now...

sorry i missed kiwi etc at the barry, would have been great to catch up. hope to see you soon too at racing.. u still in QLD?

steve's done well at this weekend's classic sportscar festival, getting some 2nds, a 3rd and two 1sts on a dirty oily wet slippery rubbly track at the creek. Sounds like anyone who stayed up did well in fact ...

Me? I 'm in Vic not Qld, I wasn't going anywhere with as few tracks as NSW!! It's great the P6 750's run on their own - will you make it to Broadford PCRA round this year?? I'm doing the Vic Titles down here on the VFR, there's only a couple of us P6'ers but we make the most of it. I was pretty lucky at Winton recently when I beat John Rickard on his FZR1000, he finished second to Nigel at the Barry Sheene in the 1000 class so to be able to beat him was good, although to be fair Winton is his least favourite track. We're at PI in a few weeks and I'm sure horsepower will be to his advantage there. I couldn't make the Barry Sheene this year either but next year I hope to.
