What is this rear shock off???

I bought this for my 91 FZR600 and after taking the original out, found that this is about 100mm too long and my original doesn't have an adjustment knob like this one does.
Any ideas what its off?
Its 365mm long from bolt hole centre to bolt hole centre.
I'm going to try and sell it seeing as i can't use it, so if anyone is interested or knows what it's for, please let me know.
Any help much appreciated.

If it'll fit an '87 I'm interested ... I'm still kicking myself for not getting that Fox shock off of ebay a while ago. Wireless broadband modem coughed an I missed it by a few seconds

Tim bugged me forever about using it, and now that I have I love the thing. No worries about being home or watching the auction til the last minute. Definately worth the (very small) price to pay for their service.

I don't know for sure but it looks identical to the one on my mate's Fazer 600.
That could be why someone thought it would do the FZR600

Quite sure that is identical to my YZF600r shock that broke a while ago.
94-95 model. It was recalled by yamaha, so who knows if that's a defective or a good one.

Looks an awful lot like my FZR 1000's, if you wanna take some measurements for comparison, I've got mine sitting in a box now. Although, can't help you on the internals and that's obviously what really counts. Maybe see if you can find some part numbers or something on it and I'll also look for comparison.

The FZR doesn't have that convenient but crumby preload step collar, it has threads. (Unless my memory's shot completely)

No my FZR doesn't have spring preload adjustment but I didn't really see one there unless that black slotted thingy is "the step collar in question".

is indeed a pretty standard preload adjuster.
The problem with a budget shock like that is that you can adjust the preload but not the rebound, so your bike turns into a pogo if you try to firm things up a bit.

The yellow triangle sticker has this string on it, but other than that, there is no numbers or markings on it.
4AA-22259-40
Its 365mm long from bolt hole centre to bolt hole centre.
Spring length on shock is around 216mm
If anyone knows what this shock will fit, I'd really appreciate the info, as i don't want to sell it without knowing what its for.

The notched aluminium wheel on the l/h side of the photo is the rebound damping adjuster (same system as EXUP shock)
The stepped collar on r/h side of photo is the pre-load adjuster.
Sorry I don't know what it's off though.

I couldn't find a 4AA-800259-40 part number. However 4AA-800259-XX-00 designates the part number for warning stickers on a wide range of dirt bikes, mostly YZ, YFM and YFZ 250 and 350s.
