Front Wheel Bearing dims 1990 EXUP1K

Hi there everyone.
I want to buy some new front bearings tomorrow, (with a 25mm int. diameter) as I'll be fitting the GSXR fork in January, but I've just been down to the garage and it's below zero in there (0ºC outside right now, with -7.5ºC expected tonight).
I was going to pull the front wheel and measure the existing bearings, but I just went all 'big girl's blouse' and ran back upstairs.
Does anyone have the spec written down somewhere so I can sit here with a Whiskey and still buy those new-uns tomorrow?

I have an RU front wheel and just measured them 40od & 17id

Does the RU have the same bearings?
I'm not sure. I think the'95 had a bigger axle, but I don't remember if previous models did too, but that said axel size isn't what interests me, it outside diameter I need to know.
Watever, 40mm ties up with what I could measure on the bike without removing the wheel (guestimate with verniers) and the inside doesn't bother me 'cos I'm going for 25mm....
Anyone else have a '89-'90 kicking about?????

There are a million 17*40 bearings out there but no 25*40. (There's a 25*37 but that's for a '91 GSXR wheel not a '90 FZR one.
What's best? Machine the wheel? Buy a GSXR wheel? Have a new axel machined up???
All a lot more $$$ than just changing the bearings!!!

The nearest would be a 6005RS (double rubber seal) 25id and 47od with 12 width , would require hub machining and different size dust seal.
Ain't gunna be easy tho

I was thinking about getting the 25x37x7 and having a 36.9x40x7 collar machined to take up the difference.
Waddaya think?

I would be worried about the collar ring being displaced, would need some sort of locking flange incorporated into the collar to stop it coming adrift.

That's why I was going to get it machined a little small, and then sweat it on with heat... plus knock it into the wheel with Locktight strong.
Do you not think that would be enough????

What is the thickness of the standard bearing? if it's wider than 7mm, you could incorporate a flange on your spacer and have it facing inward, that way the bearing will retain the collar!

PS Just check the loadings on the new bearing against the old bearing (manufacturers datasheet) as you don't want to sacrifice loading pressures! as failure of the bearing may result!!

new (25x37x7) Dynamic load 4.36, static load 2.6, speed 38000
old (stock 17x40x7) Dynamic load 9.55, Static load 4.8, speed 17000
stock gsxr (20x37x9) DL 6.35, static 3.7
machining hub out to 42mm and deeper 2mm I could use a:
(25x42x9) Dynamic 7.0, Static 4.55, speed 16000 which would be fine!
How hard would it be to get a wheel machined???

Very quick job in a decent Lathe, do you know any workshops, should be relatively cheap too, they will ask you to remove the tyre before machining.
