VIN Numbers...

Post by commenace »

Does anyone know how to decipher VIN numbers for FZR's? I'm trying to figure out what the out of box HP is for my bike (1992 FZR 600). I figured out how to read some of the info, except what I really want to know: the HP! This is more out of curiosity than anything else.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx.
John.

Alas Brethren, While the vin # will tell you many interesting things about your steed it won't tell you HP. The best you could hope for is correctly indentifying which model you have (if that was ever in doubt) and using that information to search for an original reveiw on your model.

Such things your vin will tell you are: The country it was produced in, the country/market it was destined for, it's year of specification/release, it's build number in a given production run etc. I have all the information on the wonderfull comtemporary archive method we call microfiche but right now it's too cold to go outside to my shed (sorry ).

Chuck could prolly reel it off straight up.

Speaking of which, anyone seen Chuck?
[Repeat after me]

"I don't know what I've been told..."
"1000 posts is mighty bold..."
"If John makes it I'll give in..."
"If anyone does it it's gotta be Tim..."
