The new 2006 motorcycles are coming out. I have not seen the complete lineup yet but Kawasaki has a new Ninja ZX-14. I'm not sure what I think about the styling ... it's no R1 LE. Reminds me of a cross between a Hayabusa, Katana, and a Thunderace. But a 1352cc sportbike is intriguing.

I'm seeing more of the RF900 than I'm seeing Kan-o-tuna.

that thing looks like a pig. yikes!

I can't wait until the roads fill up with riders on these bikes. It will open up motorcycles to a whole new class of riders. I just hope they don't clog up the fast lane like they do with their slow moving cars; and they better not ride around talking on their cellphones.

Honda Introduces “DN-01” Concept Motorcycle at Tokyo Motor Show,
A Large-size Sports Bike with an Automatic Transmission

TOKYO, Japan, October 19, 2005 - At the 39th Tokyo Motor Show 2005, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today introduced a large-size sports motorcycle concept model, DN-01*, equipped with a continuously variable automatic transmission and a water-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC, V-type, 2-cylinder, 680cc engine. Honda will continue the development of DN-01 with the goal of introducing it to the market in the near future.
DN-01 is being developed in the concept of a comfortable sports cruiser, with the goal of creating new value for the customer by proposing a new level of riding pleasure. The newly adopted hydraulic mechanical continuously variable HFT (Human Fitting Transmission) system features two types of full automatic modes as well as a 6-speed manual mode which the rider operates through buttons located on the handle. Moreover, this is the first hydraulic mechanical continuously variable transmission system in the world to be equipped with a lock-up mechanism, which improves the fuel efficiency while offering a smooth ride without feeling the shock normally associated with gear shifts, even when cornering. With the HFT, the DN-01 achieves more easy-to-operate and comfortable riding than currently available sports model motorcycles.

The 39th Tokyo Motor Show 2005 will open its doors to the general public beginning Saturday, October 22, in Makuhari, Chiba. Honda will present a motorcycle display booth with the theme of “Dream Wings.” The theme represents Honda’s effort to make people-motorcycle relationships more dream-inspiring and to propose a new level of riding pleasure with new values Honda will create.
* DN-01 stands for the first (01) vehicle developed under Honda’s Dream New (DN) concept

the honda styling is really cutting edge...I sorta like it

the triumph...hmmm....looks like it got its styling queues from the R1 - maybe they should stick to something more triumph-esque and let the R1 imitate the R1

Yamaha FJR1300 styling is not new for 2006 but the electronic shifter is cool. If they would just put that shifter on the R1 6-speed

the new 675 triple that triumph is launching is getting very good reviews. i belong to the triumph owners group so i got quite a bit of info on the bike before the launch. it's pretty nice, the specs are great, but it does look very japanese. that's about my only complaint. if i were in the market for a new middleweight, i would seriously consider it. the new 600's from japan just don't do a darn thing for me.

I hated the look of the 91-93 fzr1000 headlight AND the cat eyes of the 94-95 fzr1000 when they debuted

A thread on the 2006 motorcycle would not be complete without including the R1. The black-n-white paint scheme is one I have not seen.
