Very interesting. All the articles I ever read about the '89 FZR1000 said that Yamaha had designed new crankcases that only tilted the cylinders forward 35° instead of the 87-88 FZR1000's 45°. I did read about Bimota tilting the engine to basically achieve the same thing. Go figure...

This issue mostly affected the '06 and some early '07 models. At that it was a tiny percentage that had the issue. My '06 FZ1 is perfect ;)

In The US some states don't require helmet usage, seems silly to me too. Canada has had a helmet law for a good while and you still get the twits who'll buy a $20 pudding bowl with a fake dot sticker just to prove a point, what point that is I don't know. The only point they make wearing those is t...

Kelly Blue Book (a buyer/sellers vehicle guide) lists the following: "This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition...." 2003 FZ-1 = $4065 USD (CAD $4260) 2003 YZFR6 = $3955 USD (CAD $4145) I'm not sure that it's as simple as that Tim. ...

Yea, we all tend to procrastinate every once in a while. I took apart my perfectly running '97 YZF1000 last November with the intention of freshening it up cosmetically over the Winter. Well here is June and only now is it coming back together. Although I have to say it's coming along nicely. I will...

Good article...that rivalry got serious starting in '89 when Yamaha introduced the first EXUP FZR1000. It simply sent everybody back to the drawing board. And Yamaha pulled that same stunt again in '98 with the introduction of the R1.

Congratulations Spook! That is one rare bike.

Speaking of Bimota's, there's an older guy that I run into once in a while on Sunday morning rides that has a Bimota fetish...he owns seven, that's right seve of them! And one of them is one of the first Tesi's to come to the US.

Yea, I am itching to ride as well. We've actually had decent weather here for the past couple of weeks, but both of my bikes are currently out of commission. YZF1000 is completely apart as I want to go over it from top to bottom. The FZ1 is running, but I removed the rider and passenger footpegs to ...

For 1,200 bucks I hope there's more to it than just graphics... Ohlins etc or better wheels.... I don't know. Well from looking on Yamaha's website I get the impression that fancy graphics is all you get. Oh well these will probably sit around the showroom until they sell at a discount the followin...
