I went back to 2.5 turns on the screws and #2 pos on the needles...not so good. The idle hangs when blipped and off idle to about 3k surges more than the 3.75 turns/#3 pos setting. The 7K to redline test is still pretty good. I was able to haul in some kid on his new CBR 600RR. He asked, "What's FZR...

On my ride out to the Duc dealer I was able to find some smooth country roads to test my FZR. I think I'm pretty close to the main jet size. I don't think I've ever felt that kind of power since I've owned it. The idle and low speed operation is better, but I'll turn the screws in and go back to the...

Do you know when in August? I'm taking a trip out to Burningman in late August. I might be able to make a trip out to WPB from LArgo. Well the Tampa dealer flat out turned down my cash offer of 15K for the S4RS TriColore. Besides, he sold the one in stock to a guy who bought it for his wife! The oth...

I got to sit both the 1098 and 1098S. I was expecting really racy ergos, but maybe it's because I'm a shrimp. They felt a lot like my 99 R6. My FZR is less comfy. The dealership did have a 1098R is stock, but NO ONE was sitting on that. After sleeping on it, I'm having a few misgivings about this Mo...

Maybe I should've replaced the plugs as well  I've got a new petcock assembly arriving any day now. I'll get to the plugs while I've got the tank off. BTW, I've got these two white "tees" which I assume are for carb venting or overflow. They look like they accept a hose. Does anyone know how l...

I'm currently in the early stages of negotiation for a new bike...an italian bike that begins with "D" and ends with "ucati Monster S4RS Tricolore." I've been secretly coveting a Monster for some time. When the Hypermotard came out, I thought I wanted one, but the Monster really gets to me. I offere...

Success!!! :P After finally getting the float height set THE SAME for all (14mm), I went back to the 127.5/130 combo, needle in the 3rd position, screws out 3.75 turns. Everything is nice and smooth, no hiccups, backfires, stumbles, hesitation. It's probably running rich, but hell, this is the best ...

I was in 2nd gear :) I think he might have had a bike, although I was ticketed by a CHP bike cop while trailering my R6 a few years ago. I have a 94 FZR 1000. I should've said float height. Before I forget, which part of the float do you measure? The float has two pontoon-looking things, but seem to...

Carb quirks
After getting all my parts and sh*t together I finally attacked my carbs. I've installed new FP emulsion tubes along with the Config 10 jet kit. I got replacement slides that were not Dynojet drilled. So after following all the baseline settings, it still feels a bit flat from idle to 2-3K. I have n...

I got an old FJ600 I wanted to turn into a grocery getter complete with milk crate mounted on the back, but I seem to have misplaced a bunch of parts on it. Might make a neat go-kart. I also have my 86 VFR700 Interceptor that I'd like to streetfighterize. I think I have all the big parts: R1 front e...

Jim the Dragracer could help you a lot, but these new bikes make more power and are so much lighter. Re: pods
I seem to remember one British mag a few years back doing a story on EXUPS. They dyno'd an EXUP with the airbox snorkel on and off. With the snorkel off, it lost about 5-10 hp and had some drivability problems. They even lost some power when they took out the funky donut that sits on top of the filt...

Great sites vs not so great sites
Good Monday everyone!!!

I just had an experience over the weekend that makes me appreciate the EXUP Brotherhood. I was a member of one of the 250 Ninja forums, but the site is run by a self-important moderator who loves to abuse the newbies. I actually knew of the mod when we were on the VFR ...

I finally got the chance to bring my 94 1000 back from the dead. I got her running, but with the partial throttle problems. I've got two sets of carbs. One with a DJ Stage 1 and one stock (I think). The DJ set has different needles with more adjustment grooves. Is there a way I can return them both ...
