Cold chains

Post by silver »

Cold chains = stiff links ? I've been cleaning mine for the past hour with K1 and they're still stiff. It's in the mid-50's outside.

O-ing chains as a general rule are stiffer than non-o-ring ones. You don't want to over clean it, just knock the dirt/grime/old lube off and get back at it.

Well I've probably "over cleaned" it ! After several scrubs with K1, I put some 30W on each link. Figure I'll let that settle in tonight and finish putting it back together when I finally get the master link peened over properly. Unfortunately I broke my chain breaker in the process of removing a couple of links. I hope those pins are available from Motion Pro at a reasonable price. Still need to get the master link peened over properly. FYI, I used the 17T JT Sprockets front sprocket and the 45T Renthal on the rear.
