Here are some pics of a business trip I took over the wknd from Boston to WDC

The plane pics in the beginning are of Logan Airport in BOS and I centered mostly on the town of Winthrop where I spent my beginning portion of my 20 odd years. I can easily pick out my dads house when in the air. I think thats cool.

I stayed at the Willard Inter-Continental Hotel on Penn Ave. Quite nice accomadations in the King VIP suite. Prolly never get that again lol. But come on....A personal massage/manacure for $1250 ? I'll pass. I dont think I could have expensed that. Something about someone else touching my toes bothers me. :banana :poke

I had to move some servers from one location on penn ave few blocks from white house to another site closer to the International Monetary Fund building (where all the protests take place). The new site is much bigger than the old is being built to suit for my employer. The bomb proof lower portion of the building was pointed out to me. I never saw such thick glass. I also would rather not test it either. I bet its 'lresistant' not 'proof'.

Anyways the pics of the data center is of the old loc and the new.

Before my departure I walked around some of the landmarks and took a few digi photos...but mostly I took film shots with my canon ae-1 program and nikon fg with assorted lenses. I sorta miss film photography...I use to take some nice shots when I was wee high to a grasshopper. My first camera was a kodak brownie I believe - the one that shot flash shots with a bulb ! one shot per bulb.

The plane shots leaving are of the dc area of course...and en route to boston I took pics of the statue of liberty...cant make that out in the shots but easily visible from the air 33k feet. And recognizable is manhattan and I could easily see the empire state building - it even looks tall from 33k feet ! And arriving back in logan.

Nice pictures John. It's been a few years since I have seen Logan Airport. I spent a couple of years across from Logan at the 1st Naval District Headquarters in South Boston (it's all been converted to commerical property since I was stationed there). WDC pictures look good too. I was there in Janurary on business and visited all the sites in your pictures; it's impressive. I was there a week before President Bush's inauguration so security was a constant presence (almost as impressive as the sites themselves). Did you get a chance to visit any of the Smithsonian museums or other WDC sites? So what all is in the systems you moved? Looks like a interesting mix of some tape libraries (LTO tapes?), ethernet switches/cables, fiber channel switches/cables, servers, and video equipment.

Damn. I work across the street from the Willard (at 12th and Penn). Had I known you were coming I'd of bought you lunch just to talk bikes.

So who were your clients!

Some good shots you've taken, I even recognise some of the places, that is because were were there this time last year! It will be Miami, a cruise followed by a weeks tour of Florida and Christmas at Anna Maria Island this year. 3 weeks off work :banana Bring on the sunshine.

Stay happy

David

PS Thanks for the stickers John :D
