Just thought I'd correct myself. the term 'modus' is incorrect and should be 'module'. Looks like I'm a slow learner.

Re: jetting

Here's some food for thought:

Lowering back pressure by switching to a race can does not change the fundamental engine/pipe relationship. True, you have less back pressure and this will increase volumetric efficiency and possibly slightly change the pipe tuning (a.l.a exup) but this added air...

Re: jetting

well, you might need to go richer one increment, or 2. You'll have to go through some tuning to find out. You need a baseline to start with and you'll be better off starting closer to optimum.

Re: jetting

If that's the case, I agree with dg1951, you're running way too rich. Go back to stock and work from there. You might just need to play with the needle height to get it spot on.

Re: Hmmmm

If you've had your cases split, that's obviously major work. have you found any chunks of metal in the oil pan? More specifically, have you had any pieces of the clutch plates or basket laying around inside?

If you have, then you might have a problem with a bent tooth, or teeth, on the prima...

it sounds to me like it might be an ignition problem. check you wiring for corrosion on the low voltage side to the igniter box. Re: Doh!

Yeah, those frames do get awful hot in the summer time. If you feel the need caress your frame while your sitting at a red light and you find it uncomfortably hot, you might want to consider de-sensitizing your fingers by pulling hot pans out of the oven without mitts. Do that a few times and the fr...

Re: lights

I'd like to stress that the fuse needs to be at the beginning of the wire run to be effective. The most advantageous place to moun the relays is near the head lights, so there is no reason to buy relays with built in fuses. The last thing you want to do is have an unfused 10 ga. wire run that could ...

Re: boring

Yes, I agree that the flow in a 5v head would be improved by filling in rather than removing material. It's due to the difference between the center to center spacing of the cylinders versus the carbs. The amount of misalignment that the carbs have to contend with is obvious when you look down the t...

Re: boring

I think that the best bet for a 750 is to transplant a 1000 engine in the frame. It would be cheaper and perform a hell of a lot better than some conglomeration of parts from both engines. It might be possible to use a 1000 jug on a 750 motor because most of the major parts are physically similar. B...

If your used to CDI or the high energy auto sparks, it does look disappointing. But it works as long as your plugs are clean, the corners on the electrodes are sharp and the gap is as prescribed.

Re: Exup valve

Anti-cease is primarily ground up nickel which is mixed in with grease. When it burns up it creates a sticky paste. It works alright on bolts, but a shaft with a bushing would probably bind up.

Re: FZR 1000 exup oil change procedure question.

It seems that the haynes manual mirrors the Yamaha shop manual. According to the Yamaha manual:

1. change the filter with every other oil change.
2. crack the oil gallery screw upon initial startup and verify that oil starts flowing shortly thereafter (minute?). This lets you know that the...

I'm not sure if this applies to you specifically, but the average weight of the american population has really ballooned. Re: Hi everyone

I don't believe that the exup valve should be lubricated. It gets so hot, that it will burn on and bind up. My 98 R! doesn't call for it, and I feel that any year for that matter would not call for it. You guys could dig in your manuals and see if we could come to a consensus on all the vairants. <p...
